Description

This handsome book is too large (9.5 ” x 13″) to carry along as you stroll the streets of Paris, but it’s still an impressive contemporary survey of the city’s bistrot scene that will surely turn you on to sexy newcomers along with neighborhood treasures.

The book is divided into three chapters (les entreés, les plats, les desserts) and within those chapters the restaurants are listed in order of arrondisement.  The two pages devoted to each restaurant offer a brief profile, a representative recipe accompanied by a photograph of the plated dish, and several evocative photos that capture the atmosphere of the establishment.

At Pharamond in the first you might initially feel as if you’re stepping right into the Belle Epoque while Kitchen Galerie Bis in the sixth offers the crisp colorful vibe of a Mondrian painting.

Chefs Iñaki Aizpitarte,  Ghislaine Arabian, Thierry Breton, Christian Constant , Bertrand Grébaut, Greg Marchand, and Antoine Westermann are all here, along with playfully named bistrots such as Eels, Elmer, and Clown Bar.

Don’t blame us if you end up booking a flight to Paris.
