Description

Magazine F is a food documentary magazine which focuses on one ingredient per issue. The magazine explores how each ingredient is grown, prepared, and shared in different cultures around the world, through in-depth interviews, inspiring stories, and beautiful photos.

The magazine originates in Korea, where it is published roughly 6 times a year. But as part of its quest to examine the use of foods worldwide, it features information on many locations, traditions, cooks, and producers.

This issue is about Wine. It kicks off with a concisely written guide on wine terminology that would be helpful to beginners as well as seasoned drinkers wanting to update their lingo.  While wines and winemakers from France and California's Napa Valley are definitely center stage in terms of interviews and location features, there also is a brief discussion of more up-and coming wine growing regions in China, Japan, and the Midwestern United States.

This month's Academic Manual section features a lovely "Discovery" section that looks at some of the more persistent myths in wine and answers questions like "Should I drink that wine that has been in my closet for 10 years?" or "Is red wine better for me than white?" with nuance but without being verbose.

There is an interview with one of the founders of Noble Rot, London's cool kid Natural Wine bar and irreverent wine periodical of the same name.  There are also interviews with a diverse group of consultants, people making wine apps, and otherwise making their way in this industry beyond sommelier or producer.

For those interested in alcoholic beverages more generally, you might also enjoy their earlier issue on
